OKOTOKS, Alta. — Nov. 2, 2026: Southern Alberta RCMP have charged a 39-year-old man following an investigation into alleged sexual offences involving minor hockey players in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Police say they have identified three victims under the age of 18 and believe there may be others.
According to the RCMP, the investigation began in June 2024 when an employee of the Okotoks Oilers Hockey Association reported that a former employee had been soliciting and paying players for intimate images and sexual videos. The Southern Alberta District General Investigation Section took over the investigation in July 2024.
Arrest and charges
RCMP identified the accused as Tyler King, 39, a Canadian citizen who police say was living and working in the United States. Investigators arrested King on Oct. 30, 2026, in the Lansdowne–Kingston area of Ontario.
RCMP report that King faces five charges:
- Three counts of luring a person under 18;
- One count of sexual exploitation of a young person; and
- One count of making child pornography.
Police say King was remanded into custody following a judicial interim release hearing and is to be returned to Alberta to answer to the charges. The charges are allegations and have not been proven in court.
Police seek other potential victims
RCMP say King has worked with hockey teams in Fort McMurray, Okotoks, Brooks, Nanaimo and Ontario, as well as with a university in the United States. The release does not allege that offences occurred at each of those locations.
Investigators believe there may be additional victims. Anyone who believes they were a victim is asked to contact their local police service.
RCMP also encourage parents and caregivers to speak regularly with children about personal boundaries, online sexual exploitation, and how to report inappropriate requests for intimate images or sexual content.
