Entwistle RCMP continue their investigation into what happened on Sunday morning after a 14 day old baby was killed by a dog in Entwistle. Shortly after 8 emergency responders and RCMP arrived at the house to discover an infant seriously injured. The child was raced to Stollery Hospital in Edmonton via the Stars Air Ambulance but later died from the injuries from the attack.
RCMP did confirm that the home was known to the police and they had responded to a variety of situations and complaints in the past. In an interview with Global News, an adjacent neighbor told reporters that she had a constant problem with the dogs next door coming into her yard and attacking her dogs and that other neighbours had experienced similar issues with the home and the dogs living there.
There had been a multitude of complaints in the past to RCMP about the occupants of the home.

The family’s dog has since been surrendered as officers investigate and RCMP did not release the breed of the dog, only describing it as medium size. The Province’s chief veterinarian will examine the dog before authorities decide if it will be euthanized. Depending on the wishes of the medical examiner, an application might be made under the province’s Dangerous Dogs Act to have the dog involved in the attack put down. Mounties are continuing to work with the medical examiner and the veterinarian on the file all which will determine the direction of the investigation and whether charges could be pending involving criminal liability in the infants death.
Parkland County Mayor Allan Gamble extended his condolences Tuesday, calling the incident a “heartbreaking loss of a young life in our community.”
RCMP Const. Julie-Ann Strilaiff said police are still investigating the death.
