Missing Woman from Alexis First Nation found Deceased

RCMP announced today that Karen Alexis, who has been missing since July of last year was found deceased.

Mayerthorpe RCMP have announced that Karen Alexis, of the Alexis First Nation has been found deceased.  In July of 2024, Police had issued a missing persons report stating that there was at the time ” concern for her safety.”  She was last seen on October 27th, 2023.

The authorities have concluded the ” Situation is non-suspicious ” and that they do not expect to discover anything suspicious in the death of Alexis.

Further details were not releases by the RCMP as to cause of death or specific details of where or when Karen was found.  At the time of her disappearance, Police has stated they had concerns as to her where abouts and well being as she would hitch hike as a means of transportation.   She has been known to reside in Grande Prairie as well as Grand Cache and visit Edmonton.   At the time of her initial disappearance, witnesses had reported possibly seeing her near the Walmart in Whitecourt.  Another tip has suggested she was seen in Hinton as well.    

The AB Post confirmed with Police that her remains were though discovered in Edmonton and are in the coroner’s possession at the moment until arrangements can be made with family.
